Start September with a special birthday bash! On September 1 the Ranche at Fish Creek Restoration Society will host a birthday celebration in honor of Alberta’s 110th Birthday and the 20th Anniversary of The Ranche at Fish Creek Restoration Society. The fun starts at 5:00 and includes delicious food and lively entertainment. You’ll get to view a re-Enactment of the September 1st, 1905 Inauguration event (which is when Alberta became a province!) and watch a parade down the Ranche Promenade, led by the The Kings Own Calgary Regiment Marching Band. Some of the other entertainment includes performances by The History Wrangler and the Chinook Country Line Dancers.
It will be worth attending the celebration just to see the giant birthday cake, which will be a replica of the famous Senator Patrick Burns cake. The cake will be baked by the wonderful pastry chefs from the historic Fairmont Palliser Hotel – the same hotel that baked the original cake in 1931!
Make the night complete with a delicious dinner. Be sure to make reservations at The Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant for its special Alberta Birthday Dinner on September 1. Call 403-476-1310 to reserve a spot.
